Alameda County Office of Education
The ACOE serves as liaison between the California Department of Education and the eighteen Alameda County public school districts.
The ACOE was established in 1954. Today, ACOE is located in Hayward, Calif., in the heart of Alameda County for easier accessibility for all of the districts they serve.
The ACOE oversees seventeen K-12 school districts and one K-8 district in Alameda County. In all, there are approximately 10,000 teachers serving 225,000 students.
California Department of Education
The California Department of Education (CDE) oversees the state's diverse and dynamic public school system that is responsible for the education of more than seven million children and young adults in more than 9,000 schools. The CDE and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction are responsible for enforcing education law and regulations; and for continuing to reform and improve public elementary school programs, secondary school programs, adult education, some preschool programs, and child care programs.
U.S. Department of Education
