The Metrathon

METRATHON is scheduled for Saturday, October 16th, 2010. Check back as the event approaches for up-to-date information about how to get involved!

We are making some changes to the structure of the Metrathon this year. We are excited about these changes and are hopeful this will give parents and our volunteers more time to focus on what makes the Metrathon so great--our kids and our community!

The biggest change involves the silent auction. Last year was the biggest year ever for our popular silent auction, which has traditionally been held in the fall in conjunction with the Metrathon. After years of crowding into the AT building, we’ve decided it’s time we give both the auction and our parent bidders some breathing room and a chance to build on the auction's success. Congratulations on a walk well done!!! We had a great Metrathon, with lots of food, music, bid board and auctions items, and most importantly, lots and lots of walking!

Here are some great photos from the day.

A message from our Metrathon Chairs:

Thanks to the Take Me Otter the Ball Game All-Star Team!

This year’s event was a huge success! We exceeded our fundraising goal and brought in over $135,000! This was a true team effort and without the contributions of ALL of our parent, teacher, family, alumni, and business community members, it wouldn’t have happened – thank you!!!!

Now it has often been said that baseball is a game of statistics. Well, let us rattle off a few stats from this year’s game:

  • Total distance walked was a whopping 5,307km!
  • That translates to 48,367 runs scored!
  • Spread over a regular season that is an average of 298 runs per game!

5,307 km would allow the kids to walk from Oakland to Yankee Stadium and congratulate the winners of this year’s series in person!

We thank every member of our community, but want to send a special thanks to those who worked behind the scenes on the Metrathon Committee:
