Montclair is fortunate to have the following funded and volunteer positions available for the benefit of its students.
The Instructional Facilitator, Karena Cruz, works with children who are performing below or far below basic in English/Language Arts. Ms. Cruz is an Oakland native. She earned degrees from Holy Names University and California State University, Hayward. Ms. Cruz has taught Kindergarten, 1st and 4th grades, served as an Instructional Facilitator, worked in a private school, and in the Oceanside Unified School District before coming to OUSD. Her philosophy is that, ”All children should have every opportunity to be successful and a chance to develop their own individual talents to full potential”. Ms. Cruz enjoys reading, spending time outdoors with her family, flute and piano.
The School Psychologist, Dr. Susan DeMersseman, is on site one and one-half days each week to support Montclair students and families.
Speech Therapist, Catherine Goddard assists students on campus with their speech needs at the recommendation of the student’s teacher and in cooperation with the parents. Speech classes are held during the school day.
Resource Specialist, M.C. Haug works with students identified with specific learning disabilities. Students are also tutored before school, two mornings a week, by retired Montclair business people.
Music, Wanda Redman
All children attend music once a week. Wanda facilitates an age appropriate music program that leaves the children tapping their feet.
