Ms. Chanter's 3rd Grade Class

5/17/10

Dear Parents,

With the tests behind us, we are now working full-steam on our wetlands, the Oakland project, and our dog stories.

As part of Oceans month, we will be doing fish prints (Gyotaku) this Friday afternoon with Ms. Seltzer’s class and parent volunteers would be very helpful. Each child will make a print for keeping. If you send in a clean t-shirt, your child can make something they can wear. Otherwise, we will be printing on muslin squares, suitable for a wall hanging.

We will be working on creating our life-size wetlands diorama this week and volunteers would again be welcome. I have tentatively scheduled this work for the morning when more parents are available but if another time works for you, let me know and I’ll move things around. This is great fun but we’ll have 20 kids working on creating 20 different animals or plants and things can get a bit chaotic. The Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center has asked us to recreate our diorama in the visitors’ center for their anniversary celebration next year, so our artwork will live on in a very exciting way!
