Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! Thanks to your generous financial support in the form of tax-deductible donations to the Education Fund, the PTA is able to offer the following enrichment programs during the school day:

>> Library
>> Music
>> Art
>> Infused Motor Curriculum Program
>> Computers
>> Drama

The PTA also funds the Yard Duty Supervisors for recess and lunchtime, to help ensure each and every student is adequately supervised when not in class.

For the 2011-12 school year, we are also introducing a NEW program, Hero Inc. which combines a “physical activity learning” session during recess time with positive reinforcement of traditional leadership behaviors and social skills in a playground setting. They find that this holistic approach of intellectual/physical/emotional coaching works as a vehicle for kids to identify problems and learn how to deal with them in a winning way – to help themselves, to help others, to Help Everyone Reach One (HERO). This program is especially timely, considering all the changes that will be taking place to recess time and supervision needs at lunch and recess with the new construction due to take place!

Your financial support is the reason we can provide our students with these programs. Due to decreased funding for our schools, these valuable and important programs have to be funded by our PTA. As you may be aware, these programs rely solely on the fund-raising efforts of the Montclair School Community. If we don’t get the funding, the programs won’t happen. If you have any questions or suggestions concerning these programs, we encourage you to attend the next PTA meeting!
